Jean Nicholas Ratliff flew away to Heaven on September 28, 2009. She was a resident of St. John's Mercy Villa, Springfield, Missouri for the last five years where her "thank you darling" was a coveted greeting. She was born July 11, 1924 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of Grace Soffar Poss and Grover E. Poss. She was a graduate of Pine Bluff High School, class of 1942. Jean was a merchandise buyer and division manager for Sears Roebuck for over twenty-five years. After retiring in 1978, she remained busy with her card clubs, retirement group and sewing club. She was a member of the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, William Edward Ratliff; and sister, Ferledene Bailey. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Lynn Day and Donna Kaye Cotner, both of Springfield; son, Steven Trent Ratliff and his wife Debra of Springfield; granddaughter, Codee Jean Ratliff; grandsons, Donald Day, Ronald Day, Shayne Cotner, Joshua Ratliff, and JR Nix; and five great-grandchildren. Jean was loved for her beautiful outgoing spirit, genuine smile and talking brown eyesshe will be missed. Graveside services will be Friday, October 2, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff with Reverend Matt Norton officiating, directed by Ralph Robinson & Son.
