Winnie Hooper, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 26, 2014. She was born on December 11, 1921 in Newtonia, MO to H.F. and Laura Hawk. In 1940, she married Jack L. Hooper, who preceded her in death in 2002. They moved to Springfield in 1948. She was employed at the Shady Inn for 50 years, retiring in 1998. She was a member of Southern Heights Bible Church. Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and six brothers. She is mourned by those who loved her: her children, Bill Hooper and his wife, Judy of Kimberling City, Jack Hooper of Springfield and Debbie Barns and her husband, David of St. Louis; her five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 3pm to 5pm. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
