Winifred "Winnie" Eleanor Cotner, age 85, peacefully went to heaven on December 6th, 2012 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was surrounded by her children and loved ones in the days before her passing. Winnie was born November 21st, 1927 on Somerville, MA. She was the 4th child born to Patrick and Winifred Griffin. At the age of twenty-one, she married Virgil "Howard" Cotner and together they had seven wonderful children. A resident of Springfield, MO since 1962, Winnie worked as a CNA prior to her retirement in 1989 and was loved by all her co-workers. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Eleanor and her 2 brothers; William and Joseph, survived by her 3 daughters Anne Rundberg and husband Ron, Elinor Clayton and husband Carl, Beth Whitaker and husband Ted, 4 sons; Howard Cotner and wife Jeannie, David Cotner and wife Angie, Mark Cotner and wife Jill, Patrick Cotner and wife Brandi, 15 grandchildren; Jennifer Cotner-Jones and husband Mark, Angela Cotner, Clint Mason and wife Leigh, Casey Falmer, Amy Gray, Summer Gray Stidham, Gillie Clayton, Travis, Chad and Brandon Hoke, Derick and Andy Cotner, Gabriella and Quynn Cotner, and Beau Cotner. She also leaves behind a host of beloved great grandchildren. Winnie touched the lives of countless people with her kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will forever live in the hearts of those blessed to know and love her.
