Obituary

Wilma Lorraine Frazier, née Eddings, passed away quietly on November 15, 2025 with her hands held lovingly by two of her children as she left this world.

Wilma was born April 8, 1937 in Carbondale to William Lawrence "Tinner" and Bertha Opal Eddings (née Penninger) as the firstborn of five children. She is preceded in death by her parents and two of her siblings, William Lawrence "Bill" Eddings Jr. and Earl Eugene Eddings. She is survived by her brother David Dionne Eddings and sister Joyce Claire Prince (née Eddings); her children David and his wife Melody, Mark and his wife Shelley, Gwen Thomas (nee Frazier) and her husband Jon; grandchildren Ian and Erin Frazier and their mother Carla, Sydney Rogers (nee Frazier) and her husband Austin, Brooke Dell (nee Frazier) and her husband Nick, and Andrew Thomas. In addition to her children and grandchildren, there are many nieces, nephews and other extended family, along with countless friends and colleagues.

Wilma was an active and lifelong member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in multiple congregations. She was an active member of Central Christian Church in Springfield Missouri for over 51 years, where she was a beloved member of the church choir, an elder, a longtime member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, and a frequent volunteer for the "Culture Club" after-school program, along with the Tuesday Quilters, where she helped make countless quilts and baby blankets to benefit those in need.

Wilma was a longtime employee of RMMC accounting firm in Springfield, and retired several years ago. She put her considerable accounting and bookkeeping experience to good use as treasurer for numerous volunteer organizations, where she took great pride in maintaining accountability and accuracy in the stewardship of each organization's funds. She worked outside the home while raising her children with her husband David, yet still found time to cook for her family and to make her specialties of cherry pie, chocolate sheet cake and wide variety of cookies for special events and fundraisers. Her cherry pies were legendary within her family and with members of the church who would always compete to purchase one of her homemade pies. In addition, she was a nearly constant presence at countless sporting events, band concerts, dance recitals and more for all of her children and grandchildren. She always spoke with great pride to everyone she talked to about the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She was extremely generous with her love and affection and donated to many causes throughout her life, especially those that helped people in need.

Wilma was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who was successful in her own right, and she passed along her incredible work ethic to her children through her example.

The family would like to express their sincere and heartfelt gratitude for the wonderful staff of Turner's Rock who loved and cared for her for the past two and a half years and to St. Croix Hospice who provided her with incredible love, care, and compassion over the past three months.
