Obituary

William Shannon Rumley, 94 of Springfield, MO went home to be with his loved ones on Wednesday January 25 th , 2023. He was born October 14, 1928, in Covina, California to Will and Lulu Rumley.

William and his little brother James spent their young lives traveling from California to Southern Missouri with their parents. The family settled in Billings, Missouri as beef cattle farmers.

William went on to serve his country in the Korean War and served as a sergeant in the Engineer's Division.

William graduated with his Bachelor's of science in Industrial Arts from Southwest Missouri State University. William went on to become an industrial arts and math teacher for Verona, Chadwick, and Spokane High Schools in Missouri.

William really enjoyed H/O scale model railroading. William was A Master Model Railroader and co-founder of the Ozarks Model Railroad Association. William was instrumental in the annual OMRA shows and encouraging young modelers in the hobby.

William is preceded in death by his parents, Will and Lulu Rumley; wife, Bonnie Rumley; and an infant son. William is survived by a son, Shawn Shannon Rumley; a daughter-in-law, Julie Rumley; and a granddaughter, Kayla Louise Rumley; and many other family members.

Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Springfield National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ozarks Model Railroad Association in Springfield, Missouri.
