William "Bill" L. Huffhines, 91, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2010. Bill was born October 18, 1919 to Simeon and Bergie "Bird" Huffhines in Crane, Missouri and was one of eight siblings. Bill served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia after the War. He was a credit manager for Sears and Roebuck when he met his future wife, Helen Frances Boyer. They were married December 2, 1950 and moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. Bill and Fran also lived in Kenosha, Wisconsin; Springfield, Mo., and ultimately, Republic, Mo. Bill was a compassionate, loving and caring person always putting others first. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather (Pappy), son, brother, uncle and friend. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Springfield, Missouri for 50 years. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers (John and Frank) and five sisters (Lois, Kathy, Lori, Hazel and Betty). He is survived by his wife Fran of 60 years of the home; daughter Carol and husband Danny Lockmiller, Republic, Mo.; two sons, Bruce, Palm Coast, Fla., and Mark and wife Leslie, Overland Park, Kan.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Travis, Erica, Laura and Emily; one great grandchild, Kai; and a number of relatives and friends. A military funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Missouri Veterans' Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Road, Springfield, Missouri under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to one's favorite charity in Bill's name.
