Obituary

William (Bill) Gustin Lucas, 76, of Springfield, Missouri passed away on February 3, 2015 after suffering a stroke and heart attack. He was the son of Ethel Lucas Green and Clyde H. Lucas. He graduated from SMS where he was the medalist on the 1963 golf team, which won the NCAA College Division Tournament. In 1962, he won the Springfield City Amateur Golf Championship. In 1987 Bill was inducted into the Southwest Missouri State University and The Letterman Alumni Association Athletic Hall of Fame. Bill began his career in the fields of insurance and real estate. Later, he established a commodities trading office. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lueda Eiffert Lucas; a daughter, Gayle Robertson and husband Joe; a son, Aaron G. Lucas and wife Olivia; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Gloria Overfelt and half siblings, Judy Elliott and Dan Lucas. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.
