William J. Erwin age 90 of Springfield, MO passed away at 12:30 a.m., March 28, 2023. He was born the son of William Jennings Bryant Erwin and Sarah Patterson in Brighton, MO on May 7, 1932.

He was a member of Abou Ben Adhem Temple, American Legion Post 639, and the Harley Owner's Group.

Bill grew up in Brighton, Willard and Springfield and joined the Air Force in 1949 and retired in 1970. He then worked for Fresno County, California from 1973-1994.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Wray Nix, 52, Auberry, CA; son, Edward Charles Erwin, 35, Clovis, CA; and his granddaughter, Tamyra Anne Flavell, 29, Clovis, CA. Bill is survived by sons, William W. Erwin, Clovis, CA; John A. Erwin, Fairbanks, AK; and Douglas W. Erwin, Port Orchard, WA; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Brighton Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, April 3, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, or the Veterans organization of your choice.
