Obituary

William "Bill" Scott Dockery William "Bill" Scott Dockery, 66, of Springfield, MO, passed away March 18, 2011 at Select Specialty Hospital in Springfield, MO after a long illness. Bill was born to Clarence T and Evelyn Emick Dockery, on May 5, 1944 in Lawrence, KS. He attended Lawrence High School and the University of Kansas. Bill was an avid sports fan and loved the Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, as well as golf. The most important thing to Bill was his family and friends. Bill worked for many years at Springfield Grocer Company as Director of National Accounts, retiring last December. He received many awards during his career with them. He was most proud of his success in contributing to the growth of the company. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence T. Dockery. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marge Dockery of the home; his mother, Evelyn Dockery of Springfield, MO; his beloved dog Bo; his father-in-law, James Remer, of Leawood, KS; his sons from a previous marriage, Darren and Brian Dockery of the state of Kansas; his step-son James Brent Remer and wife Alison of Kansas City, MO; his grandchildren Peyton and Avery Dockery; Rhys, Ian and Lily Remer; his brother Gary Dockery of Overland Park, KS; his aunt Joyce Near and husband, Bob, of Colorado; his Uncle J.R. Dockery and wife Frances; Aunt Ethel Terry, of Arkansas; Aunt Emma Tompkins of Oregon; his cousins; David Near and wife, Karen, of Michigan; Nancy Perse, and husband, Rich, of Colorado; and Eric Near and wife, Holly, of Colorado; and many friends. A celebration of life memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 5th at Gorman Scharpf Funeral Home, Springfield, MO. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to Southwest Missouri Humane Society, 3161 W Norton Rd, Springfield MO 65802 or Alpha-1 Association, 2937 SW 27th Ave. Ste 106, Miami, FL 33133. The family would like to thank all of Bill's many friends and co-workers at Springfield Grocer Co. who stood by him during his illness. Also, the family expresses great appreciation to his many caregivers, but especially, Dr. Timothy Woods; and his wonderful caregivers at Select Specialty Hospital.
