William Glen "Bill" Root passed away Sunday, September 8, 2019 at his home in Springfield, MO surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 21, 1946 in Enid, to the late Elvin Dean Root and the late Ruby LethaMae (Odom) Root.

He is survived by his wife JoMia (Jenkins) Root of the home, daughters Shelly (Mike) Murray of Salina, KS, Cindy (Dale) Dalton of Strafford, MO, stepdaughters Lanae and Sloan Sorey; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers David (LueAnn) Root of Enid, OK, Rick Root and Kenny Root of Homestead, OK.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Tamara Root and brother Dale Root

Bill was a man's man, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and mentor. He lived life the way he wanted, never seemed to look back and you always knew where you stood with him. He was a tradesman working as an electrician, builder, general contractor and property owner. His hobbies included building and racing stock cars at the Garfield County Fairgrounds in Enid, OK, raising bobcats, collecting Root manufactured bottles and jars and enjoyed learning.

Time and space do not allow us to recount all the stories and experiences that he had in his short 73 years but if you knew Bill, you probably have heard many of them.

He will be greatly missed and leaves a true void in the life of his family and friends.

Funeral service will be at 2 pm Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 11, 2019 from 6-8 pm with family present from 7-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Integrity Hospice, 2960 N. Eastgate Avenue, Springfield, Missouri 65803.
