William L. "Bill" Clinkenbeard, 81, Springfield, passed away on June 9, 2017. He was born May 9, 1936 in Springfield, the son of George William and Edna Clinkenbeard.

Bill graduated from Springfield Senior High School and the University of Kansas with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. During high school he played sports, he played baseball at KU and was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds. He was an avid golfer, hunter, quite the craftsman, always repairing and building and loved to garden. He was a past member at Twin Oaks Country Club followed by Springfield Golf and Country Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Gretchen Palmisano and a brother, Donald Edward Clinkenbeard.

He is survived by his wife, Myrna (White) Clinkenbeard; a son and his wife, Bob and Merica Clinkenbeard; daughter, Jane Clinkenbeard; three step-daughters, Tracy Schay Curry, Ashley Schay Gormley and Kelly Schay Heiser; a brother, George; sisters, Pat and Mary Ann; nine grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in Christ Episcopal Church with Father Kenneth Chumbley officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. A reception will follow in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church.
