In 1948 at the age of 14, he received Christ as his Lord and Savior while attending Sullivan Assembly of God Church. Later he attended the Assembly of God North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN, where he met Ruth Myrna Blankenship to whom he was married on August 3, 1957. Bill enjoyed a variety of sports including softball that he played until age 60, basketball, fishing, biking, hiking, and tennis. He and Ruth backpacked the Grand Canyon Rim to Rim twice with friends. Bill hiked 180 miles of the Appalachian Trail.
