William "Bill" Abney passed on April 22, 2026. He was 93 years old. Bill was born May 30, 1932 to Charles and Irma Abney. He had four siblings who all preceded him in death: Pauline De Mate, C. Leroy Abney, Jesse Abney and Marlene Fry.

Bill graduated from SHS in 1950 and also Drury College, where he met his future wife, Linda. Bill and Linda were avid golfers, both playing and watching it, and were members of Hickory Hills Country Club for 60 years. 

They married May 10, 1958 and their daughter Anne was born in 1960. When Anne went to college at MU, they became avid MU sports fans. Bill enjoyed watching football, basketball, hockey and his beloved golf on TV. He sold Insurance for a profession and had many friends.

Bill is survived by his daughter and her husband, Anne and Kelly Grant, nieces Debbie Parrish, Melody Huffman and Valerie Fry and nephew Randy Fry.

Bill was buried during a private family celebration at Clear Creek Cemetery. Feel free to make a donation to any charity in his honor.
