Wilbur C. Willis passed away on June 9, 2009 at Cox South Hospital. He was born and raised in Seattle, WA. Following more than five years of military service in the U.S. Army during World War II, he moved to Springfield, MO in 1946 where he owned and operated Willis Jewelry until retiring in 1977. He was a member of United Lodge #5 A.F. and A.M., Zabud Council #15 and Disabled American Veterans Orland Smith Chapter. He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Mary Ellison Willis; a brother Edward Willis; and sister Dorothy Myers. He is survived by his wife, Esther; two sisters, Winnie Andrews and Genevieve Baardson of Stanwood, WA; sister in law Mary Willis, Seattle, WA; Teresa Mead and husband Darrell and their son D.J. Mead who were like family; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Hazelwood Cemetery with Reverend Darrell Mead officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. No visitation is scheduled, however friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
