Reverend Wesley Joseph Arington was born August 21, 1926, outside Martin City, Kansas. He was a Christian, husband, father, grandfather, minister of the gospel and friend to many.
Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, George and Rose (Senter) Arington; his wife, Virginia; one brother, Alfred "Punk" Arington, one sister, Donna Jean Arington Colson and one great grandson, Fisher Heath Harvill.
Wesley Arington and Virginia Egbert were married on April 5, 1947. To this union, three children were born.
Wesley is survived by his 3 children: Kathleen Noel of Springfield; Wesley Joseph "Joe" and wife, Cathy of Springfield and George William "Bill" and wife Dede of Ava, Missouri; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; many precious nieces and nephews, a very special friend, Betty Johnson and a host of dear, life-long friends.
Wesley lived a life of service to Jesus Christ. He was licensed to preach in the Methodist Church in 1948. He pastored many churches in his ministry with Virginia by his side. He also preached on the battlefields in Korea and Italy during his term of service in the Army. Wesley has performed countless funeral services as well as weddings. Wesley received the honorary title of "Pastor Emeritus of Schweitzer United Methodist Church in 2008. During his latter years, he served as a Chaplain for Cox Hospital.
A private family graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family to celebrate the life of Wesley led by the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. He will be forever missed by his loving family.
