Obituary

Weber Allison Warren died unexpectedly April 24, 2024, in his home, five days after celebrating his 70th birthday.

Weber was born April 19, 1954, in Springfield, MO and attended Springfield Public Schools through graduation from Glendale High School in 1972.

After graduation, Weber enjoyed a 22-year career in the grocery industry, where he became the best meat cutter in the world, according to some (and him). In the next chapter of his professional life, Weber gravitated toward the arts he loved so much. He began a 22-year career at National Art Shop, from which he retired in 2020. During his years there, Weber developed strong relationships with aspiring and professional artists along with collectors in the Springfield region. He had a passion for collecting fine art in all its forms but was particularly drawn to antique Japanese woodblock prints. Museums borrowed from his collection for exhibitions, and his fine-art photography was found in Springfield galleries and showcased in many First Friday Art Walks in downtown Springfield. Weber also loved live music and the performing arts – his love of art was well rounded.

Weber had a galaxy of friends, who he entertained with his razor-sharp wit and a seemingly endless variety of jokes. His laugh truly was infectious. It's something those who loved him already miss, along with his generosity of spirit, wisdom, kindness and warmth.

Above everything, Weber loved his daughter, Chelsea. Those who knew him well shared the joy of watching her grow up through his many stories of her achievements and the joy she brought him. It's possible he was the proudest father ever.

He was preceded in death by his birth mother, Barbara L. Warren; father, Glenn "Windsor" Warren; and brother Wade W. Warren.

He is survived by his mother Barbara J. Warren, of Springfield; brother Walter Warren, of Springfield; sister Jeanne Luber and husband Jake, of Kansas City; and daughter, Chelsea Warren, of Kansas City.

A celebration of Weber's life will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at The Flea, 637 S. Kimbrough Ave., in Springfield. Arrangements are under direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.

The family requests memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Art Museum, c/o the Development Office, 1111 E. Brookside Drive, Springfield, MO, 65807, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
