Obituary

Wayne Earl Lingo died March 22, 2013, at 9:35 p.m. at his home in Springfield. He was born May 14, 1940 in Enola, Arkansas to Tressie Inez Lingo and Joseph Herman Lingo who preceded him in death. Immediately after graduation (1958) from Van Buren High School in Van Buren, MO, he enlisted in the Air Force. He served as Air Traffic Controller until his honorable discharge in 1962. He worked in law enforcement in California as deputy sheriff in L.A. County from 1963-1970. He followed construction work through many states in the Midwest. Survivors include Jean Lingo, Ellen (Ralph) Baumgartner, Lois (Les) Spence, Helen Kenslow, Jack (Mary) Lingo, Jean Farmer; two daughters, Delores Lingo and Sherri (Clinton) Ussery; five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Wayne was preceded in death by his grandson Darryk Francka and brothers Joe Lingo and Paul Lingo. Graveside services and burial will be held Friday, March 29 at 2:00 p.m. in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 South Southwood Road, Springfield, MO under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Victory Mission, 1715 N. Boonville, Springfield, MO 65803 or of the donor's choice.
