IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wayne Wilson
Clements
March 9, 1938 – June 19, 2021
Wayne Wilson Clements
March 9, 1938-June 19, 2021
Wayne Wilson Clements, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend went to be with our Lord Saturday June 19, 2021.
Wayne was born on March 9, 1938 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Woodrow Wilson "Foots" Clements and Eloise Clements. He married the love of his life; Susan (Sanders) on July 26, 1983, and they have been blessed with 38 years of marriage.
Wayne graduated from Highland Park High School in 1955. He then attended the University of Texas and graduated with a business degree in 1960. During his time at UT he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. The longhorns gained a lifelong fan in Wayne as he was a football season ticket holder and member of the Texas Ex's for 60 years. He was a member of the ROTC and upon graduation served our country in the United States Army in Fort Lee, Virginia. In 1964, he was discharged from the Army as a First Lieutenant and returned home to Dallas where he started his family. In Dallas he began his career at Major and Major. Soon after, he started Wayne Clements and Company as a Real Estate developer and entrepreneur. That led him into a partnership with Colonial Security Life Insurance Company. In Dallas he was a member of the Park City Baptist Church, Dallas Country Club, the Derbish Club and served as President for the Highland Park Republican Committee. Wayne was a proud member of the 1980 National Olympic Committee. In 1990 business brought Wayne and Susan to Springfield, MO to join his brother in-law, Rusty Still, as a partner at MSI. When MSI sold in 1996 Wayne was able to focus all his time and attention on spending time with family and traveling the world.
Wayne had a full life and lived it well. His quiet disposition and humble attitude were respected by everyone and when he spoke, people listened. He treasured every moment with his family and found great joy in spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He spent his time coaching his children's sports teams, taking them on fishing trips and teaching anyone willing to learn how to water ski. Wayne was most proud spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them strategies for Go Fish, cheering them on at their soccer games and dance recitals and genuinely loved being in their presence. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing, snow skiing and perfecting his art as a "Grill Master." Wayne was happiest with his beautiful wife Suzy by his side and they had the time of their lives traveling the world together. The countless days they spent soaking up the Florida sun on the beaches of Destin were some of the best times in their lives. Wayne's selfless nature and loving spirit were evident in the fact that he would do absolutely anything for those he loved. The pride he had in his children and the unwavering love he had for his wife Suzy will be a cherished memory and his lasting legacy.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, his father in-law Robert Sanders and his step-mother Virginia Clements. The memory of Wayne will be carried on by his loving wife, Susan and mother in-law Barbara Sanders and through his children Cathy Allday and husband Robert, Wayne Clements, Jr., Brett Clements, and Rob Clements and wife Whitney. Wayne was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren: Lauren and Caroline Allday, Houston and Caroline Clements.
