Warren B. Nicholson, 89, of Springfield, passed away November 11, 2011 at his home. Warren was born December 2, 1921 in Mountain Home, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl B. and Dora Belle Nicholson; son, Joel B. Nicholson; two brothers, Vernon and Jerry Nicholson; and four sisters, Helen Lee, Katy N. Baker, Phyllis McNeal and Donna Z. Noggle. Warren served his country during WWII stationed on the USS Cleveland in the Pacific Theater. He was able to go on the Ozarks Honor Flight in June of this year. On June 7, 1947, he was married to Roberta Jean Hixon and together they shared 64 years of marriage. Warren is survived by Roberta of the home, son Gregory W. Nicholson and wife Barbara of Mission Viejo, CA; daughters Julie A. Nicholson and Tracy J. Huff of Springfield. Grandchildren Geoff, Sean and Korie Nicholson; Caitlyn, Bailey and Allyson Greene, Erin and Amy Huff, great-granddaughter Avery Cassidy, brother-in-law Carl McNeal, sister-in-law Wanda Nicholson and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, November 18, 2011 at 1 p.m. followed by the memorial service at 2p.m. at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield. In memory of Warren, contributions may be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church or Ozarks Honor Flight in care of Gorman- Scharpf Funeral Home.
