Walter F. Hedrick, Jr., 88, Springfield, passed away on January 3, 2016 in Mercy Hospital. He was born August 14, 1927 in Springfield, the son of Walter Franklin, Sr. and Mary Ione (Potter) Hedrick. He graduated from Camdenton High School. Walt worked 30 years for the Springfield News Leader and later owned and operated Marshfield Lebanon Express Trucking Company, until his retirement. Walt raised registered Black Angus on his farm in Fair Grove. He was a longtime member of South Street Christian Church.
Walt is survived by his loving wife, Louise (Roy) Hedrick; three children, Linda Porter and husband, Martin, of Bolivar, MO; Larry Hedrick; and Dawn Hedrick, both of Springfield; two brothers; two sisters; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 in South Street Christian Church with the Reverend Janet Given officiating, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Lung Association.
