Joann, a longtime resident of Springfield, moved from her hometown of Goodman, MO after marrying Tom in 1947. Anyone who knew Joann knows she was an active, independent woman with a sense of humor. Joann loved to sing and did so until her last week of life. She and Tom were founding members of National Avenue Christian Church in Springfield. Upon her retirement from IRS as Taxpayer Service Representative in Springfield, she worked at the Wayne Newton Theater in Branson and then volunteered into her late eighties at the Springfield Little Theatre.
Traveling was one of Joann's favorite hobbies and throughout her life, she toured many cities and states and, reportedly, 39 countries! Joann also enjoyed playing bridge, and she was very competitive. Throughout her life, she maintained her fitness either through square dancing with Tom, walking at the mall, or shopping. For many years, Joann was a season ticket holder for MSU Lady Bears and even traveled with them. She loved her family and will be greatly missed.
