Virginia (Jennie) Sue Purcell, 93, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the Neighborhoods at Quail Creek. Jennie was born to Gilbert and Walter Virginia Alley in Springfield on September 17, 1923. Jennie married Frank Curtis and to this union was born their son, Daniel Curtis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; son, Dan; a sister, Lucille Tegarden and brother, Howard Alley. Jennie is survived by her loving family: daughter-in-law, Pam Curtis; grandsons, John Curtis (Jennifer) and Scott Curtis and great-grandson, Drew Curtis. She also leaves many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her heart.

Jennie worked for many years at Southwestern Bell Telephone as a business accounts manager and after her retirement she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She loved her family very much and will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Graveside services will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 18, 2016. Arrangements are under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Curtis, John Curtis, Bob Tegarden, Joe Tegarden, David Tegarden and Julie Boyce.
