Virginia DeCamp Sifford, 90, of Springfield, MO passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 2:33 a.m. in Mercy Hospital. She was born August 7, 1921 to Loy G. and Essie Andrews DeCamp in Springfield, MO. Virginia graduated from Springfield Senior High class of 1939. She worked for approximately 25 years as an underwriter for insurance agencies, including, C.O. Sperry, Handley-Adams and Barker-Phillips and retired in 1976. Virginia was also a founding member of Hillcrest Presbyterian Church. Virginia married Edwin O. Sifford in June of 1940. He preceded her in death in January of 1967. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. She is survived by sons, Jack (Donna) Sifford, Boonville, MO and David (Beth) Sifford, Springfield, MO; daughter, Marianne Sifford, Springfield, MO; daughter-in-law, Anne Schubert; "second daughter", Becky DeWitt, and Becky's daughter (her namesake) Virginia Datema; grandchildren, Jason (Renee) Sifford, Jane (Brian) Tasker, Erik (Kate) Sanders and Rachel Sanders; great-grandchildren, Finley Louise Sanders and Brody Ryland Tasker; and her beloved cat, Tiger. Services will be held Friday, March 9, 2012 at 2 p.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel with the Reverend Kent Hollingsworth officiating. No formal visitation will be held; however friends may call after 1 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hillcrest Presbyterian Church, 818 E. Norton Rd, Springfield, MO 65803, or South Side Senior Center, 2215 S. Fremont, Springfield, MO 65804.
