IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia E.
Salvog
May 16, 1921 – March 25, 2023
Virginia E. (Louzader) Salvog, 101, of Springfield, MO went to her heavenly home on Saturday, March 25, 2023.
She was born May 16, 1921 to Robert and Katie (Varley) Louzader of Newburg, Missouri.
Following graduation from Newburg High School in 1939, Virginia traveled to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to live with relatives and attend Hills Business College. Later, she came back to Missouri and worked at Fort Leonard Wood as secretary to the American Red Cross for four years. That is where she met her future husband, Sherman Salvog. They were united in marriage at Fort Lewis, Washington in April 1945. At the end of World War II, Sherman was discharged from service and they moved to Springfield, Missouri to make their home.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman, her parents, four sisters, Roberta Mae Louzader, Nada Sawyer, Francis Thomas and Wilma Sharp.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Salvog of Sydney, Australia, a brother, Donald E. Louzader of Springfield, Missouri, and several nieces and nephews, including one special nephew, Don M. Louzader, who guided her through health emergencies while her daughter taught school overseas. She is also survived by a dear friend, Sandy Cullers, who took her shopping and to doctors' appointments, and was a vital part of her care later in life.
Virginia was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Springfield, chancel choir, and United Methodist Women. One of her greatest joys was being part of the choir for 50 years.
Virginia was employed as a secretary in the Springfield area, and at the time of her retirement in 1984, she was employed by the Springfield R-12 School District as Secretary to the School Board and also Secretary to the Director of Business Services.
Virginia loved to travel, and after her retirement, visited her daughter, Carolyn, in Australia several times.
