Obituary

Virginia Mae Miller, 96, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born May 2, 1921 in Peoria, Illinois, to Ted and Mabel Heimeshoff.  She was a Kindergarten teacher for 17 years and was married to Charles A. Miller from June 22, 1957 until Chuck's death in 2002. Virginia loved life to the fullest and believed "Life is a Special Occasion".  She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton (SEAS) Catholic Church.  She was a volunteer in numerous organizations and was an avid sports fan.  Left to honor and remember her are two daughters, Julie and her husband, Steve White and their two sons, David and wife, Mary Catherine, and Jeffrey; and Lorie and her spouse Diane Catron; one sister, Nadine Loveridge, of San Rafael, California; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at SEAS Catholic Church under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until service time Thursday in the church.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ovais Zubair and his nurse, Lorena, for the excellent care over 17 years.  We are also indebted to the nurses and staff at The Gardens and The Manor at Elfindale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Kitchen (thekitcheninc.org) as they work to end homelessness in the community.
