Obituary

Virginia (Ginger) Marler, age 94 of Springfield passed away on October 19, 2024. She was born the daughter of Georgia Marie and Julian Schmid in Springfield, Missouri. Ginger married Ralph Wesley Marler.

She was a member of PEO, Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority at SMS, and a past member of First & Calvary Presbyterian Church. Ginger was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed social activities with friends at Cobblestone Senior Apartments, baking cookies for family and friends, and was an avid walker. She was a very independent and self-sufficient woman. Ginger served as a teacher's aide in many Springfield schools, worked at ANPAC, and worked many years as a Mercy Hospital Pink Lady.

She was preceded in death by her husband, sisters Adele Gleason and Emily Lemon, and brother Julian Schmid. Ginger is survived by her daughter Nancy Shea and husband Bill, Kirkwood, MO; son Mark Marler and wife Jeanne, Springfield, MO; grandson Kevin Shea, Sarasota, FL; granddaughters, Amy Shea and husband Chris, St. Louis, MO, Anne Gilley and husband Jasen, Kirkwood, MO, Carrie Winton and husband Steve, Ballwin, MO; grandson Matthew Marler and Raluca, New Orleans, LA; great-grandchildren Madison, Izzy, and Ellie, Kirkwood, MO, Frankie, St. Louis, MO, Walker and Lily, Ballwin, MO.

Memorial Visitation will be Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Private interment will be at Maple Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Southside Senior Center, 2115 S. Fremont, Springfield, MO 65804.
