Virginia M. "Bid" Maddox passed away April 28, 2011 in Mercy Villa in Springfield, Missouri. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother & great-grandmother. Bid was born June 14, 1928 to Louise and Joseph Walsh. She graduated from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis in 1949. Bid married John F. Jack" Maddox, July 29, 1950 and they lived in St. Louis until 1964, transferring with Frisco Railway to Springfield and Bid worked at St. John's Hospital. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years and their three children; Michael (Deborah-deceased), Stephen (Brenda), and Mary Noonan (Timothy), eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Bid was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Louise Eaton, brother, James J. Walsh, and daughter-in-law, Deborah Maddox. Bid had been an active member of the Daughters of St. Francis de Sales and St. Monica's Guild. Visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM with a Rosary at 7PM in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Holy Trinity Church with Fr. Fergus Monaghan, celebrant. Luncheon immediately following with burial at Missouri Veteran's Cemetery at 1:00 PM. The casket will be closed at all times.
