IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia
Logan
February 23, 1927 – May 2, 2016
Beloved wife and mother, Virginia June Walker Logan, went to be with the Lord on May 2, 2016 at the age of 89. She was born in Chicago, IL to Betty K. Hosek Walker and George J. Walker, Sr. on February 23, 1927. She graduated from Morton East High School in 1945 and attended the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana where she met the love of her life, G. Edwin Logan. Virginia graduated with a B.S. in secondary education, with a double major in English and Spanish, in 1949. Virginia often worked as a substitute teacher and was highly praised by English students at J.D. Darnall Senior High in Geneseo, IL, when she took the place of an instructor who passed away unexpectedly. She was also a talented pianist, as were her father and brother George Jr., and she passed her love of the piano on to both of her daughters as well.
Virginia was a member of Job's Daughters, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority of the University of Illinois.
On September 24, 1949 Virginia and Edwin were married at the Presbyterian Church in Berwyn, IL. As the newlyweds began their family, they lived in a number of towns in Illinois, including Steward, Wauconda, Wyoming and Geneseo, finally settling in Aurora, IL, near Virginia's beloved Chicago.
After Ed's retirement, Virginia, Edwin and their daughter Lynne moved from Aurora, IL to Springfield, MO in June of 1998.
Virginia was a devoted mother who set a wonderful example for her children. She was a very loving and generous person with a great sense of humor. She was admired by everyone who knew her. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite TV shows. She also was a supporter of the 700 Club, Ozarks Public Television, the Springfield Art Museum, and the Springfield Symphony.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin, who passed on August 9, 2012. She is survived by three children: April of Solana Beach, CA; Lynne of Springfield, MO; and Craig of Encinitas, CA. She is also survived by granddaughters Lauren and Natalie.
