Virginia Hunt Kinser died Monday, December 23, 2013, while recuperating from a recent illness. She was born February 8, 1926, in Hollister, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Hunt and Irene Christian and her beloved husband, Rex A. Kinser. She is survived by her niece, Kathie Williams and husband, Gary, her great nephew, Jason Williams and wife, Courtney, all of Albuquerque, NM. and many friends and neighbors throughout Stone County. Virginia was the Office Manager for her husband's construction company in Springfield for over 50 years before embarking on a long career in cattle ranching. She was an active volunteer for state and county issues in Missouri and had the most creative fund-raising ideas. Virginia believed that anything worth doing was worth doing well and she always had the most positive attitude. Generosity and perfection were her everlasting goals. As a member of the Pearson Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she was known for her inspiring poems and beautiful flower arrangements. She was also a 50 year member of the Queen City Chapter 226 Eastern Star, Order of the White Shrine, the Social Order of the Beaucent, and the Order of the Amaranth, serving these organizations as an officer on both local and national levels. A short memorial service will be held on Friday, December 27, at 2pm in the chapel at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole in Springfield. Burial of Virginia and her constant cat companion, Bobbie Babe, will follow at Kinser-Lee cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you make a donation to your favorite charity.
