Vineta Gladys Mitchell, 94, died after a long illness on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Mrs. Mitchell, a retired upholsterer and homemaker, was born in Manes, MO on July 17, 1921 to James and Bertha Rowe. She married Avril Troy Mitchell in 1938, and they were married until his death in 1998. Mrs. Mitchell worked for two furniture companies as an upholsterer until she moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, in 1956 where she and her husband owned and operated Mitchell's Upholstery for 16 years. She was respected in her field and served residential and commercial clients, locally and in Aspen, Denver and Salt Lake City, Utah. She and her husband moved back to Springfield, Missouri and opened Perfection Upholstery in 1972 and continued her craft until retirement. Mrs. Mitchell enjoyed traveling, fishing, sewing and baking. Upon her beloved husband's death, she moved to Florida to be near her daughter, granddaughter and family. She attended First Baptist Church Orlando and was a member of Glendale Baptist Church, Springfield, MO. She enjoyed many years of good health and her favorite pastime was loving and caring for family. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette and Ed Doggett, Orlando, FL; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Shonda and Matthew Gravat, Orlando; great-grandson Landon Mitchell Matthew Gravat, Orlando; great-granddaughter Aleah Clare Gravat, Orlando; and extended family and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 10 to 11am in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, 1947 East Seminole, Springfield, MO. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11am in the funeral home. Private burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery (Mt. Zion Southern Baptist Church, Hartville, MO).
