Vicki Lou (Farson) Forza died August 24, 2011, after a courageous long fight with pancreatic cancer. She was born April 23, 1948, in Pekin, IL, to the late Robert E. Farson and Carol June (Moody). After graduating from Pekin High School, she joined the U.S. Army in June 1966 and went to LPN school at Fitzsimmon General Hospital in Denver, CO. While stationed at Fort Riley, KS, President Eisenhower died. Vicki was one of the three nurses picked to care for Mamie Eisenhower during the funeral. She was discharged August 1969 and was a SP5. Vicki married her best friend Larry Forza on December 7, 1974 in Tacoma, WA. After several miscarriages, they took in 5 Chinese teenagers from Vietnam in 1979-1980. The whole family moved to Springfield, MO, in 1981. They had a preemie daughter, Nina J., in 1985. Vicki received her RN in 1990 and she worked on the St. John's Hospital's cancer floor for 8 years and then its hospice services for another 8 years. She is survived by her beloved husband, Larry Forza; mother, Carol, and step-dad, Don Light; sister, Debi Worthen and her husband, J.W., Norwood, MO; brother, Robert Farson and wife, Terry, Edmond, OK; great-cousin Alan Mayfield of the home; four foster sons: Sanh Ton and wife, Jenny, Seattle, WA; Quyen Ton and wife, Lori, Seattle, WA; Nghiep Tram and wife, Elish, Springfield, MO; Toc Ton and wife, Tiffany, Seattle, WA; one foster daughter, Hong Ton and husband, Phi Tu, Seattle, WA; and daughter, Nina Forza, Springfield, MO; 10 grand-children; 6 nieces and nephews; 4 great nieces and nephews; and one great-great nephew. Visitation is scheduled at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. and funeral mass on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 3555 S. Fremont, with Father Lewis Hejna celebrant. Burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 South Southwood, Springfield, MO.
