IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Verona Rosalie
Higgins
July 7, 1919 – January 23, 2019
Verona Rosalee Higgins often said, in her later years, she didn't know why God was keeping her here. Her question was answered on January 23 rd when she passed away peacefully at the age of 99 ½ years to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Higgins; her brothers Carl Clemons, Arthur Clemons and Norville Wallace; and her sister Iris Mae Clemons.
She is survived by her sister Helen Robinson and her children; nieces Deborah Wettstein and Rebecca Matt; and nephew Scott Clemons.
Ronnie was born July 7, 1919 in Taneyville, MO to Etta Mae Jones (Clemons, Wallace, Kenyon) and Chris Clemons. She moved to Branson as a young child and graduated from Branson High School. During the war, she worked in an ammunition factory in Lake City, MO, then moved to San Diego, CA to work in the shipping yards. She moved to San Francisco after the war and worked as a secretary for the District Attorney's office where she retired. She moved back to MO to live with and care for her mother, Etta. She lived her last few years at Lakewood Assisted Living in Springfield, for whom her family would like to thank the staff and her roommate Linda for taking wonderful care of her. Her family would also like to thank the Rev. Howard Cavner and his wife Nadia, family friends, for seeing to her well being and the staff at Intrepid Hospice for their faithful attention to her during her final days.
Ronnie was a faithful Catholic who was attended to by Sister Bernadette for several years. She had many interests including love of pets, sewing, cooking gourmet meals, reading and playing games like Scrabble and Uno with Sister Bernadette and the residents of Lakewood.
Service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 2200 W. Republic Rd., Springfield, MO 65807 on July 6, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. She will be greatly missed.
