Verdell Marie Myers, passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Cox South Hospital. She was born September 15, 1950 in Lubbock, Texas. She graduated from Dumbar High School, Lubbock Texas, Class Of 1969 and from San Antonio College, Class of 1973.
She is survived by: Melvin Myers Sr.-Husband; Joyce-Sister; Anthony Gerald-Son; Theresa Michelle-Daughter; Melvin DeLeon-Son; Tamica Lashay-Daughter; Maya Joella-Granddaughter; Kwentin Dashawn-Grandson; Imaney Miriam -Granddaughter; Ky-mani Jevon-Grandson; Melhoney Lashay-Granddaughter; Trevon Deleon-Grandson; Maleah Nichole-Granddaughter; Devin Rae-Granddaughter; Rydell D-Grandson; Demetrius-Grandson, Xaniah Jae, Khalel Jarron, and and a host of family and friends.
Verdell was preceded in Death by: The McNeals- Grandparents; Melanie Shantell- Daughter; Alberta Horton- Grandmother; Edward McNeal- Father; Leon Tyler- Brother; Dorothy L Wood- Mother, and Numerous Aunts & Uncles
Verdell Myers taught special education for many years at Delaware Elementary School in Springfield Missouri .Everyone that knew Verdell could truly see and feel her passion for helping others. Not only did she help and inspire these children. She also inspired every person she came in contact with. She mentored many young women in the community.
Verdell loved her time as the choir director at Greater Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church under the guidance of Reverend Johnson. But she did not stop there she shared her love for music by directing the children's choir at New Hope International Ministries along with her two daughters under the guidance of Reverend Jamerson. She truly loved her church family. And will be remembered for the love and generosity she showed to everyone she came in contact with.
