Velma M. McCracken, 97, of Springfield passed away March 30, 2012 at Woodland Manor. She was born June 29, 1914 in Boonville, Mo to William and Dora Timm who precedes her in death. She is also preceded in death by husband; Theodore R. McCracken, brother; Harold Timm, sister; Mildred Pethan, and son; Larry (infant). Velam is survived by two children; Theodore R. McCracken, Joyce Alane Tolliver and husband Mickey Tolliver, two grandchildren; Bryan Adams and Vicki McCracken, and three great-grandchildren; Alana Faucett, Andrea Faucett, and Jaedyn Payne. Mrs. McCracken was a lifelong member of the Missouri Lutheran Church and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Springfield for over 70 years. She was active in various church activities until recently. She was also a volunteer with the St. Johns Auxiliary for thirty years. She was a Red Cross Aid during WWII. Mrs. McCracken was an avid bridge player until her recent illness and continued to drive herself to and from bridge and St. Johns until her hospitalization. Her little toy poodle, Lacy, will miss her greatly as well as her family and friends. Services will be held graveside at Maple Park Cemetery on Tuesday, April 3rd at 1p.m., under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ozark Greenway Trails.
