Obituary

Gertrude (Trudi) Scott, 61, of Springfield, Missouri, died Saturday March 20, 2010, in an automobile accident. Trudi was a lover of life and leaves family and friends knowing she is in heaven. She gave the gift of sight by donating her eyes. Trudi was working on her doctorate in nursing at UMKC. She received her MS in nursing in 1995, BS in nursing in 1992 and graduated from St. John's School of Nursing in 1971. She was a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at Jordan Valley Community Health Center since 2006. She worked for CoxHealth from 1989 to 2006, most of those years running the C.A.R.E. Mobile Program. She also worked at The Children's Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, MO; University of Minnesota, NICU/PICU; Blank Memorial Hospital for Children, Des Moines, IA; and St. John's Hospital, Springfield, MO, Pediatrics/PICU. She was involved in many local, state and international organizations, including: Chairman of the Board for Missouri Foundation for Health; Advanced Practices Nurses of the Ozarks; Community Partnership of the Ozarks; Missouri Perinatal Association; Child Advocacy Center; League of Women Voters; Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (working on mission trips in Cedar Rapids, IA and Lake Charles, LA); medical missions to Guatemala, El Salvador and Kenya. She was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher and her parents, Paul and Lucie Miller. She is survived by her husband, Ted and two sons and a daughter: Brian of Jacksonville, FL, Alex and his wife Cristy and two beloved granddaughters, Lauren and Morgan of Kansas City, Sarah of Farmington, NM. Her brother Conrad lives in Denver and her sister, Bernadette lives in Paris, France. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 2245 S Holland, Springfield, MO. Pastor Ward Rudolf of Covenant Presbyterian Church is officiating . Funeral services are under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Trudi used her life to help children get medical services and it would be her wish that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church or to the John D. Bentley Fund at Jordan Valley Health Clinic, www.cfozarks.org
