IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas B.
"Tom" Tappmeyer
August 11, 1937 – November 30, 2020
Thomas B. (Tom) Tappmeyer, age 83 of Springfield MO, died on November 30, 2020 after a long illness.
Tom moved to Springfield as a child with his family when his father joined the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Tom was married to his high school sweetheart Saundra Delo for 63 years. He attended SMS before settling on a successful career in sales and management positions. Tom, alongside his beloved wife Saundra, started a legacy business out of their basement that later sold and where he remained in a management position until his retirement.
Tom loved his family, hunting and golf at Twin Oaks. He also enjoyed reading and had a great love of dogs. He will be remembered by friends and family for his kindness, generosity, and quick sense of humor. Tom supported many charitable and fraternal organizations. He was a charter member of Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club supporting The Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield, served on the board of The Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, was a Deacon at First & Calvary Presbyterian Church, a member and Term Director of The Royal Order of Jesters as a Shriner, and a board member at Twin Oaks Country Club.
Tom was the only son of Gilbert B. (Tapp) and Thelma Tappmeyer both deceased. He is survived by his wife Saundra Tappmeyer, his son Greg B. Tappmeyer (Mary), his daughter Becky White (Bill), grandson James Tappmeyer, all of Springfield, MO. and granddaughter Callie Quinones (Tim) of Cumming, GA.
Tom was a beloved husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He was a kind gentleman holding the highest integrity in business and family life. In addition to his family, he leaves behind many lifelong friends and will be deeply missed by all.
A Celebration of Life to honor Tom is planned for Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Twin Oaks Country Club. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions in Tom's name be made to The Good Samaritans Boys Ranch or The Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield.
The family would love for friends and family to share their condolences and memories of Tom online at www.gormanscharpf.com.
