Thomas James "T.J." Dugan, 88, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born March 31, 1930, in Long Lane, Missouri, but moved with his family shortly thereafter to the Marshfield area of Webster County, Missouri, where he spent all of his formative years.  He was the son of Charles Benton and Jessie Mae Dugan.  T.J. attended Marshfield High School.  Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country.  Following his army service he worked for Lily Tulip in Springfield, Missouri.  It was there that he met Catherine "Kitty" Sue Boyle, who he married.  They were united in marriage from May 23, 1953, until Kitty's passing on October 4, 2008.

After leaving Lily Tulip in the early 1970's, T.J. finished his professional career working in the management consulting business providing companies in various industries with expert advice on operational efficiencies.  T.J. enjoyed coaching his sons' Little League teams.  T.J. was a private pilot most of his adult life and was particularly proud of the last plane he owned, a 1946 ErCoupe 2532H.  When he wasn't flying, he enjoyed exploring the country behind the wheel of his 1976 Edgemonte GMC Recreational Vehicle. His son Tom was often with him on those trips. T.J. was a proud member of the Flatlanders GMC club.  T.J. was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where he ushered and volunteered with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his wife, Catherine "Kitty" Sue Dugan, his brother, Ralph Benton Dugan, his nephews, Eric Martin and Chris Martin, and his niece, Patricia Dugan.

T.J. is survived by his four children, Debbie Dugan, Springfield; Mike Dugan, and his wife, Kelly, Vancouver, B.C; Tom Dugan and his girlfriend Lisa Hunnell, Springfield; and Tim Dugan and his husband, Robert Cowan, Rancho Mirage, CA; two sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Martin and Katrina Boyle; his nieces and nephews, Michele, Judy, Susan, Mary Jo, Theresa, Mark, Lisa, Edward, Rose and Victoria Anne; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August, 24, 2018, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Fergus Monaghan celebrant, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel.  Private Family interment will follow in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 2018 in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in T.J.'s name to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2818 E. Bennett St., Springfield, MO 65804.
