Thomas N. Blubaugh, age 80 of Springfield, MO passed away July 25, 2022 at Mercy Hospital.
He was born February 2, 1942 in Wichita, KS. He was the son of Vince P. and Sylvia (Hertzfield) Blubaugh.
He served the United States Navy for four years, including a tour in Vietnam. Following his service years, he was employed as an office manager at White Trucking Company and later worked as an insurance agent, financial planner, business owner and tutor. He became a resident, then employee of Springfield Harbor House, a program supporting homeless men with addiction or incarceration issues. In retirement, he leaned into his love of writing. He became a published author and established websites supporting addiction recovery and Christian authors. His work continues through these communities.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Holmes to whom he was united in marriage in 2005. He is also survived by his siblings, brother David and Donna Blubaugh, sister Margaret and Jim Thomas, sister Mary Siemens, sister Judy and Greg Paul, and sister Sandy and Mike Adams. His sons, Vince and Kandy Blubaugh, and David and Jill Raney. Barbara's children, Jeanne and Doug Stockam, Melissa and Charlie Tweedel, Cynthia Cook, and Tom and Charlia Holmes. His grandchildren, Sam and Allie Blubaugh, Caleb Blubaugh, Emily Raney, Nathan Raney, Justin and Isabella Stockam, Lauren Stockam, Katie Tweedel, Hannah Tweedel, Josh Tweedel, Chris Cook, Makayla Scott, Megan Holmes, Nicholas Holmes and Brayden Holmes.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vince and Sylvia Blubaugh and his grandson, Jack Cook.
Also left to remember Tom are loving relatives and dear friends who will miss his humor, patience, wisdom, and love.
Services including military honors will be held on Thursday July 28, 2022 at 10:00 at The Venues (2616 E. Battlefield Springfield, MO) with Reverend Phillip Wright officiating, under the direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Inurnment ceremony will be Missouri Veterans Cemetery at a later date. The family will greet guests before the service at 9:00.
