IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thelma "Marie"
Doran
February 20, 1933 – June 5, 2022
Thelma "Marie" Doran, 89, Springfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2022. She was born February 20, 1933 at Sayre, Pennsylvania to Richard A. Hill and Thelma Tucker.
Marie was married to Wayne on June 27, 1951 at Trinity Church, Elmira, NY. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Hillary Wayne Doran on December 22, 2002 and never remarried; and siblings: brothers, Wallace Hill, Jack Hill, Donald Hill, and sisters, Louise Rys and Phyllis Hill.
Marie is survived by her sisters, Carolyn Saxton and Joyce Sherman; children, Cynthia McIlroy, Dwayne Doran and wife Cheryl, Colene Polly and her husband Gordon and Glenn Doran. Glenn mentioned three of moms favorite sayings to us kids were, "I'll mop the floor with you", and later, "How'd you like to be up to your knee's in floor" (from Mash), "If you kids are gonna do that, take it outside". She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chandra Carey, Cheston Doran, Mandi Williams, Neeley Brady, Chelsea Cantrell, Luke Polly, Andrew Polly, Alicia Janssen, Garret Doran, Seth Doran and Truit Doran; and great-grandchildren, Allysson Williams, Taylor Williams, Konnor Brady, Tristan Doran, Steven Brady, Kira Cantrell, Nariah Doran, Skylyr Carey, Ruby Carey, Easton Williams, Maylee Doran, Andi Polly, Raiden Doran and Daniel Polly.
Marie loved to dance. Even toward the end with dementia, when Elvis was on, she would step us and grab Don, a male nurse to dance with her. She spent 35 years as a cook for Ozark School System. The head cook for most of those and served thousands of meals. Marie was known for her great meals and spotless cleanliness in the kitchen and home. Marie grew up in Elmira, NY, where she met Wayne, who was in the Navy.
She loved pets and donated a lot to several animal shelters and other programs. In her memory, we ask you give in her name to your favorite animal rescue, recovery shelter or the humane society.
A special thanks to "Joy Assisted Living" and "Glendale Garden Nursing and Rehab".
