IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terri
Davis
September 26, 1946 – February 12, 2024
Terri Lynne Akridge Davis went home to be with her Heavenly Father Monday, February 12th, 2024. Terri was born in Springfield Missouri on September 26, 1946 to Harold and Virginia Akridge.
Terri spoke often of her happy childhood and the friendships she made during her early years, still meeting with her "Rogers Group" for lunches throughout her life. She gave her life to the Lord at a young age and attended University Heights Baptist Church throughout her childhood. Terri attended Parkview High School followed by Southwest Missouri State University where she graduated Cum Laude with a degree in History. Terri went on to serve children in need in both Memphis and Connecticut. She returned home to Springfield where she married Greg, her husband of 39 years. Together they had 2 children, Matt and Megan. She continued to be a devout member of UHBC and served in many capacities, including teaching Sunday School and leading the children's choir. Family was everything to Terri. She enjoyed laughing with her family, family dinner and game nights, and her rescue animals. She also loved genealogy and connecting with distant family members. She was known to be the mother who opened her home to other children when needed, including them as part of the family. Terri also loved to travel and particularly loved the Great Lakes area. She was very creative, always crafting and decorating (and re-decorating) her home. Terri was known for her church bulletin boards which were always fun and interactive. Terri managed retail stores until later in life when she returned to social work helping disabled adults find gainful employment. Terri touched many lives and those who knew her were lucky to have a friend to laugh with and who was willing to help anyone who needed it.
Terri will be remembered as an advocate for those in need, a steadfast wife, a loving mother, a servant to all of God's children, and a very tender and kind soul. She is finally at peace, whole and loved, in the presence of her Father. She left a legacy of compassion and service which her children and grandchildren will carry on in her honor.
Terri was preceded in death by her husband Gregory Davis; mother and father Harold and Virginia Akridge; as well as her beloved grandparents.
She is survived by her son Matthew of Springfield; daughter Megan and her husband Jason Elley of Republic; grandchildren Scotlynne, Jaxton, and Maclaine Elley of Republic; brother John Akridge and wife Connie of Las Vegas; as well as many other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 11:30 to 12:30 directly followed by a Memorial Service. Terri's ashes will then be laid to rest with her husband at Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, at 2.
