IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Teresa
Green
May 21, 1963 – January 22, 2026
Teresa Lynn Green (Richardson) passed away at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, at 3:47 p.m. on January 22, while holding the hands of her husband, Michael Green, and daughter, Vesta Hotchkiss. She was 62 years old. Teresa was born on May 21, 1963, and loved sharing her birthday with her grandson, Auggie.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Vesta Richardson, and her father, Ernest Richardson.
Teresa is survived by her loving husband, Michael Green; her three children, Bobby Green (Candice Green), Vesta Hotchkiss (Phil Hotchkiss), and Marshall Green (Ashley Green); and her grandchildren, Jaxon Green, Auggie Hotchkiss, Violet Hotchkiss, Miles Green, Ava Green, and Aubrey Green.
Teresa was born at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base in the Kansas City area. Due to her father's military service, she moved several times during her childhood and even lived in Hawaii briefly before settling in Springfield, Missouri, after her father retired from the Air Force. She graduated from Glendale High School in 1981 and married her high school sweetheart, Michael Green, on August 21, 1982.
Following their marriage, the couple relocated to Texas due to Michael's Air Force service. Their son, Bobby, was born at Carswell Air Force Base in 1984. The family later moved to Knob Noster, Missouri, while Michael was stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base. It was there that their daughter, Vesta, was born in 1988. While living in Knob Noster, Teresa attended Central Missouri State University, where she raised her young children and earned a degree in Business Administration. Teresa often joked that her daughter Vesta was so smart because she "went to college" with her. Shortly after graduating, their youngest son, Marshall, was born in 1991.
In 1994, the family returned to Springfield, Missouri. Teresa worked in banking services for many years before beginning her career with the State of Missouri in the Division of Family Services. In 2003, she transitioned to the Division of Probation and Parole with the Missouri Department of Corrections, where she worked until her retirement in May of 2021.
To outsiders, it may have seemed that Teresa did not have many hobbies, but that was because her greatest focus and joy was her family. She prioritized time with her children, loved driving them and their friends to practices and events, and never missed a game, tournament, play, or activity. As her children grew, she poured the same love and dedication into her role as a grandmother. Teresa was fully present with her grandchildren—getting down on the floor to pretend play, being silly, and making every moment special. She was very intentional with her time and cherished being involved in their lives.
Those who knew Teresa often speak first of her kindness. She was a friend to all, fiercely loyal, and loved people with her whole heart. She had a way of making others feel cared for and safe. Her family will deeply miss sending her photos and videos of the grandchildren, the long phone calls and FaceTime conversations, and the constant connection she maintained with those she loved most.
Teresa fought a long and courageous battle with multiple myeloma after her diagnosis in 2021. She endured numerous treatments and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her journey. She fought not for herself, but for her family—doing everything she could to be with them for as long as possible. She never complained of pain or discomfort and showed incredible strength until the end.
Funeral services will be held at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home on February 1 at 1:00 p.m. Services are open to the public.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Teresa's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Samaritan's Purse, an organization she loved to support.
Teresa's legacy lives on in the love she poured into her family, the kindness she showed to everyone she met, and the countless lives she touched simply by being herself. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
