Teddy L. Purvis, 78, Springfield, MO was called home by the Lord on Thursday, April 14, 2011 in St. John's Hospital. Teddy had been battling lung cancer for a little more than a year and was surrounded by friends and family. He was born July 28, 1932 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Ira and Pansy Purvis. Teddy was united in marriage to Georgette Pelletier in 1964. He was preceded in death by his parents Ira and Pansy Purvis, brothers Leonard, Ira Eugene, Gerald, and Jack Purvis. Teddy is survived by his loving wife, Georgette Purvis, a son, Eric Purvis, Grandpa's little girl Hannah Purvis and special little guy Justin Luttjohann of Springfield, MO; Andre and Therese Pelletier of Dayton, Ohio; Lance Hawley of Colorado, and many more friends and family both locally and across the country. Teddy proudly served in both the U.S Navy and U.S Army for over 20 years, retiring in 1973. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all. We love you dad. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, April 18, 2011 in Gorman-Scharpf Brentwood Chapel, 1947 E. Seminole, Springfield, MO 65804. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2011 in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The American Lung Association, 2053 S.
