Teddy "Ted" Eugene Shrader

Ted was born on March 10, 1928 at home in Southern Lucas County, Iowa to Guy Clark Shrader and Roxie Magdlyn McFarland Shrader. He was raised most of his childhood life on the farm attending Brush College and then Dry Flat School, both single room schoolhouses. He was one of 7 siblings. He was preceded in death by his brother Cleo and sister-in-law Joye Shrader of Monroe, LA; sister Rosebud and Verne Vincent who is survived by wife Irene Vincent of Chariton, IA; sister Dorothy and brother-in-law Leo Sellers of Chariton, IA; brother Les who is survived by his wife Helen Shrader of Oskaloosa, IA; sister JoAnn and brother-in-law Dick Jamieson of Sacramento, CA; and is survived by sister Barb and preceded in death by brother-in-law Jim Steinbach of Chariton, IA. Guy Jr. and Ivan were brothers who died as infants. As a young man, Ted worked for the W.P.A. and Conservation Department helping build up recreation facilities around Red Haw State Park in Lucas County, IA.

Ted is survived by his loving wife Janice Shrader. The two were married August 10, 1957 in Unionville, MO. Ted started working at Brown's shoe store. Together they purchased the Ottawa Store near Woodburn, IA and later moved to Osceola, IA where they owned the Four-Corners Food Market for many years. They eventually moved to Springfield, MO in 1974 where they resided for 45 years. Ted retired in 1989 from Kraft Foods. Ted loved the outdoors. He spent much of his free time with family at the lake camping, boating, and fishing or in the woods hunting. He was a master gardener raising all variety of vegetables and fruits and is especially well known for raising the biggest and best tomatoes.

Ted is survived by his four children: a son, Rick Shrader of Des Moines, IA, preceded in death by wife, Debbie Pennington Shrader and survived by granddaughter Sara and her husband Seth Daniels with 2 great-grandchildren, Noah and Ever of Webster City, IA; a daughter, Kathy and husband Russ Bishop of Johnston, IA, three grandsons, Scott Bishop and wife Jessica and great-granddaughter Kate of Urbandale, IA, Michael Bishop and wife Sheena and great-granddaughter Lily of Johnston, IA, and Jimmy Bishop and wife Amy and great-grandkids James and Jordan of Des Moines, IA; a son Ted Shrader and wife Joy of Broken Arrow, OK, their children and spouses, Shannyn and Joshua Dykes and great-grandchildren Gavin and Connor of Broken Arrow, OK, Stephen and Stephanie Shrader and great-grandchildren Hannah, Cameron, Mason, Preston, and Madelynn of Jenks, OK , and Jennifer and James Sterrenberg and great- grandchildren Emma and Evalee of Broken Arrow, OK.; and a son Kirk Shrader and wife Pat Shrader and their four children Meagan and husband James Davis, Jessica Shrader, Joshua Shrader, and Emilee Shrader all of Broken Arrow, OK.

In the early morning hours of March 20, 2020, Ted took his final breath on earth and his first breath in Heaven no doubt holding a fishing pole and garden hoe in one hand and the hand of Jesus with the other. Son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to so many. We will miss you, but for a short while and then be reunited once again. We know by faith that at last you have found the blessing of peace and joy in the presence of Almighty God. We love you

There will be a visitation Friday, March 27, 2020 from 10:00am to 12:30pm at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.  In keeping with the CDC and the Governor's COVID-19 guidelines, a maximum of 8 visitors will be allowed at a time and social distances will need to continue to be observed at all times.  A private family graveside will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery, Springfield, MO.  We will be videoing the graveside service and can make the recording available to family and friends.
