Sylvia Kay Sneed of Springfield, MO, age 67, passed from this life on July 1, 2012 in her home after a long struggle with ovarian cancer. She was born January 9, 1945 in Clarksville, Arkansas to Ben Calvin Long and Dona Arlena (Harmon) Long. Syliva is survived by her loving husband, Robert Sneed of Springfield, daughter Natalie Sneed Miller and husband Frank of Republic, and son, Jeffrey R. Sneed and wife Lexi of Springfield. She is also survived by the joy of her life, four grandchildren, Keaton Jeffery Sneed and Kyla Alexis Sneed of Springfield, and Madeleine Jane Miller and Nicholas James Miguel Miller of Republic. Also surviving are brothers Huey Long of Dexter, MO; Douglas Long of Satanta, KS and sister Mary Long of St. Louis, MO. Two brothers, Stephen Long and Ben Harmon Long, of Bernie, MO, preceded her in death. Sylvia worked many years in medical secretarial positions, including the Veterans Administration Hospital in Poplar Bluff, MO, Smith-Glynn-Callaway Clinic and St. Johns Health System in Springfield. She was a member of Schweitzer United Methodist Church in Springfield. The family would like to give special thanks to hospice and the many friends of Sylvia during her last days. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Council of Churches of the Ozarks, 627 North Glenstone Avenue, Springfield, MO 65802. Services will be held Thursday July 5, 2012 with visitation at 10:00 am and memorial services at 11:00 am in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. The body will be cremated at a later date.
