Sydny L. "Syd" (Lawrence) Stewart was born on July 7. 1948 in Marshfield, Missouri to Frank A. and Doris E. (Steffens) Lawrence.  Syd lost her lengthy battle with cancer on October 17, 2021.

Having grown up in Marshfield, she graduated in 1966.  She married James W. "Jeb" Stewart in 1971.  Moving from post to post as a military family with their three children, they eventually settled into their permanent home in Webster County in 1978.

On a whim, Syd applied for a position at the then-new Marshfield Walmart in 1980 and ended up working there for 20+ years.  She retired in 2004.

She is survived by three children, Stacey Stewart of Marshfield, Matthew Stewart and his wife Darla of Springfield, and Chip Stewart and his partner Kate of Springfield, brother Michael Lawrence and his wife, Nell, of Springfield, and her step-siblings, many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Terry and Clifford "Tip" Lawrence, her husband Jeb Stewart and his mother, Joan, and step-parents, F.A. Totten and Alice Lawrence.

Syd was an avid reader and music fan.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, following Cardinals baseball, and taking care of her many pets over the years.  In honor of her love for our furry friends, she asked that donations be made to the ASPCA.  A memorial fund in her name has been created here:  https://secure.aspca.org/donate/ta-pf-memorial?p2p_pcid=215163

A graveside funeral service for Sydny "Syd" Stewart will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Mt. Olive Cemetery, on KK highway between Marshfield and Rogersville, MO.  No formal visitation is planned.
