Suzanne (Short) Edel, age 81, of Springfield, passed away Monday, March 9, 2015. She was a life member of First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. Suzanne attended Drury University and the University of Missouri and was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was also a senior member of the Junior League of Springfield and a member of Hickory Hills Country Club. Suzanne was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and business partner for 60 years. She was preceded in death by parents, J. Frank and Lena Short. Suzanne is survived by husband, Charles Edel; two daughters, Clair Lucinda Ross and Sally Kathryn Jones (Rodney); sister, Sally Short McMillen (Don); five granddaughters, Sally Elizabeth Amburgey, Meghan Ross McKinney, Jennifer Jones Schwoch, Gretchen Jones Watson and Suzanne Jones; four great-grandchildren, Ross and Clair McKinney, Charlie Amburgey and Illiana Reyes. Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery at a later date. Family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Isabel's House, 2750 W. Bennett St., Springfield, MO 65802, or the charity of the donor's choice.
