IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susie
Mcamis
February 4, 1949 – November 22, 2023
Christine "Susie" Sue (Snyder) McAmis of Springfield, MO, passed away on the 22nd of November 2023 at the age of 74. She was born the daughter of Francis "Frank" Snyder and Jessie Clampett of North Hollywood, CA. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was known for her servant's heart. She demonstrated this by her devotion to her husband and sons through the years, and her strong willingness and desire to pray for anyone and everyone who needed it.
Susie married Wes McAmis on the 2nd of December 1972, in North Ridge, CA. They spent their early years in California and in their free time, they enjoyed going to the beach, traveling to Lake Tahoe, and camping in a VW van. Their first son, Neal, was born in 1978 while the couple still resided in California. Along with other family members, they moved to Springfield, MO in 1980, in search of a better place to raise their children. Their second son, John, was born in 1986 in Springfield. Susie loved her boys fiercely. Not only did she devote her time, love, energy, and prayers to her sons, she did so for all their friends as well. She was known as "Mama Mac" to all her sons' friends who had the pleasure of knowing her through the years. She was extremely proud of her sons and was overjoyed by the arrival of her grandson, Preston, in 2021.
As her sons were involved in sports growing up, Susie spent many of their youth years traveling to basketball games with the team. She was known for "mothering" all the boys on the team, as only Mama Mac could do.
Susie had a steadfast love of America and was one of the most patriotic women you would ever meet. She had an especially great admiration for her favorite leader, President Donald Trump. Susie also had a passion and love for all her animals. Through the years, she had many dogs and cats and cared for each like the family member they were. She had a special place for Basset Hounds and for many years donated to the Basset Hound rescue.
Susie's greatest love was her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Susie was a member of Glendale Baptist Church. She demonstrated her love for Jesus by never being afraid to tell anyone about her Savior. Susie prayed fervently for everyone. She is undoubtedly safe and resting in the arms of her Savior today.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank & Jessie Snyder; son, Wade McAmis; sister, Marilyn Ham; brother-in law, Andre Kleinbardt; and brother, John Snyder. She is survived by her husband of one week shy of 51 years, Wesley McAmis; son Neal and wife Meredith; son, John and Paige Wade and grandson, Preston; special niece, Nora Payne (who is more like a sister to Susie), and many other nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28th, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, MO. A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 29 at Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, with Tom Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Operation Blankets of Love in California, The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri, or any basset hound rescue.
