Susan "Sue" Lynn Ulrich, 60, of Springfield, departed this life to begin her heavenly life on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, after a long and valiant struggle with cirrhosis of the liver. She was born December 16, 1948, in Bartlesville, Okla., to Charles and Mary Lou (Whitley) Alfred. Sue is survived by her very loving husband of nearly 39 years, Bob Ulrich. They were extremely blessed by their wonderful son, Jamie. Sue was preceded in death by her father, Charles Alfred. She is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Alfred, Bartlesville, Okla.; her son, Jamie and wife, Jennifer of Franklin, Kan.; her grandson, Preston; her brother, Robert Alfred and wife, Katie, Broken Arrow, Okla.; her brother, Mark Alfred and wife, Joyce, Oklahoma City, Okla.; her sister-in-law, Nancy bible and husband, Mancil, Littlestown, Pa.; her sister-in-law Donna Tyler, McSherrystown, Pa.; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Not only was she blessed by life, but she was also a blessing to all that she met. She had a tremendous love for her family and friends, and was warm and welcoming to new persons in her life. She had a marvelous outreach through cards, letters and calls. She greatly enjoyed counseling at church camp and being an inspiration to teens at Happenings and other youth events. Her handcrafted necklaces, anklets and bracelets that were all freely given with love, are still worn by many after several years. All who knew her were enriched by her. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, in St. James Episcopal Church, with Fr. Ross Stuckey officiating.
