IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan L.
"Suzy" Bunge
September 24, 1942 – October 26, 2020
Susan (Suzy) Louise Bunge
Suzy was born September 24, 1942 in Springfield, MO and was called home on October 26 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO surrounded by her family. She was a 1960 graduate of Central High School. In 1970 she worked for the original owners of the Springfield McDonalds, Joseph Post and Hayes Tucker as an Executive Secretary. She retired in 1995.
In 1973, Suzy married Eddy Bunge, who was the love of her life. Through many trials, they were each other's rock. On May 20 th , 1999 Suzy received a liver transplant at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. That gracious gift she received from her organ donor allowed her 21 extra years. She was all about family and friends and would do anything to make sure they were happy and taken care of.
Suzy was a member of the Willard Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church from 1980 to 2017, First & Calvary Presbyterian from 2017 to 2019 and was a current member of Covenant Presbyterian. Throughout the years, she served as an Elder, Deacon, President of many Women's Groups, Choir Member, Building Committee Member, Missions Committee Member and Chef.
During the last several years, Suzy had been very active in her church, organizing her annual high school reunions and volunteering at her favorite charity, Help Give Hope. By volunteering 100s of hours per year, she was able to help provide Christmas for hundreds of children and their families.
Suzy is survived by her husband Eddy of the home and their two children, Mark (Tina) Bunge and Michelle Bunge, grandson Michael Bunge, and cousin David Awbrey. Suzy had many wonderful, close friends, including Lee & Vivian Bruner and Vance & Juleen Turnage.
Michael, her beloved grandson was the light of her life and called her "Nana", her favorite title. Over the course of their 16 years together, you would find them spending time at the lake, banana bread tasting, having picnics on the farm, going to the library, multiple sleep-overs, going to movies, cruising the high seas and being his forever Uber driver.
We are at peace knowing that she is in her heavenly home, free from pain and illness. For those who knew her well, know that she is organizing dinner for her homecoming.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2020 at Covenant Presbyterian from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM, under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM also at the church.
