Obituary

Susan Elizabeth Boeckman, 75, Springfield, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in Mercy Villa. Known for her gentle spirit and kind soul, Susan was born March 21, 1936 in Iowa City, Iowa to parents Wallace Height and Antoinette Speidel Johnson. She graduated first in her class from Monte Cassino School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and attended The University of Tulsa, where she was a member of Tri Delta sorority and met her husband, John. They were married in 1957, and moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1968. Susan was a devoted wife and mother, as well as a quintessential homemaker and proud grandmother. She taught Sunday School for many years at Immaculate Conception Parish, and enjoyed traveling the world with John, reading, bridge, MSU Bears basketball, and, most of all, being with her family. Susan is survived by her husband John, of Springfield; four sons, Jim and wife Nancy, Austin, Texas; Paul and wife Rebecca, Springfield; Philip and wife Erin, London, England; Stephen and wife Ann, Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Taylor, Solana, Matthew, Lauren, Andrew, Elizabeth, Olivia, Anna and Stella; and sister, Janice Satkowski, Denver, Colorado. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 3, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, October 2, in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org/swmo) or to a charity of choice.
